Honda Pilipinas Dream Cup 2020, in search for new breed of riders
Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI), the number one motorcycle manufacturer in the country, gears up anew for next year’s action-packed Honda Pilipinas Dream Cup (HPDC) as it announces the tryout for the new breed of riders, happening on December 14 at the Clark International Speedway in Mabalacat, Pampanga.
The tryout for the Honda Pilipinas Dream Cup 2020 call for young talents, ages 10-17 years old, to showcase their ability to compete in high-level road racing and get a chance to be a full-fledged Honda Racer for local and prestigious international motorcycle racing competitions.
During the tryout, aspiring riders will use Honda’s one-make racing machine Honda CBR150R with MotoGP DNA, designed with precision for full-trail blazing and complete racing experience without the hassle of slowing down.
All aspiring racers are welcomed to join the tryout and have themselves experience becoming a Honda Racer by completing the application form, which can be downloaded via HPI’s official Facebook page and website. HPI will then release a confirmation to the application on November 28. The application starts on October 25 and ends at noon on November 25.
This year, 14-year-old Alfred Jakob Sablaya bagged the championship setting him to join the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup Tryouts at Sepang International Circuit in Sepang, Selangor, Malaysia, and gearing him a slot for the next 2020 race season. With his talents and potential, he may become the next rider to join the ranks of the previous Filipino racers, including HPI’s current international competitor Troy Alberto.
“Young riders should not pass on this opportunity to experience and participate in the thrilling Honda tryout race, for it opens doors to various opportunities, including high-ranking local and international competitions,” said Hervic Villa, Department Manager of Motorcycle Planning Office.
The 2020 HPDC Tryout is part of Honda’s Motorsports Program, which aims to help develop the talents of young Filipino riders in motorcycle racing using the CBR150R – a 150cc, MotoGP DNA motorcycle. It seeks to promote the sport of MotoGP-racing among young Filipinos to better their skills in representing the country for future racing competitions.
The racing event is also in line with HPI’s ONE DREAM campaign, which aims to serve Honda Motorcycles as tools in achieving one’s dream and unite all motorcycle riders through various fun-filled activities.
