Globe prepares network and personnel for the potential impact of Tropical Storm Goring

Globe has begun preparing its network and personnel in Luzon areas that may be affected by Tropical Storm Goring, which is forecast to rapidly intensify over the weekend and enhance the Southwest Monsoon.

Technical and support crews in areas in the path of the storm are on alert, while supplies and emergency equipment have been prepositioned in areas that may be affected. Generators and alternative power sources are also ready to ensure power supply and the continuous delivery of connectivity services in case of commercial power outages.

Globe is also ready to deploy Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging, and Libreng WiFi stations in areas that may be severely affected, as these are crucial in response operations.

“Globe has activated its preparedness protocol ahead of the storm as we anticipate its potential impact in our service areas. We are also ready to provide connectivity support in areas that may be heavily affected,” said Yoly Crisanto, Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer, Globe Group.

Globe also urges the public to prepare if they are in an area forecast to be affected by Goring, and store food, water, and medicine, prepare first aid kits, emergency light sources, and batteries, and charge their mobile devices.

To ensure that customers access timely and verified weather updates, Globe provides free data access to the website of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). Globe would also like to remind the public to get their information from legitimate and trusted news sources to make sure they get vetted weather information, and heed warnings sent by the agency via SMS alerts.
