On April 21, 2024, the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines, bore witness to an extraordinary display of unity and advocacy as nearly 22,000 individuals came together for the Angels Walk for Autism event. Among the multitude of participants were the Project Eight Initiative, a group embarking on their inaugural attendance at the event. Marking a significant milestone in their commitment to the autism awareness cause. Their presence underscored the swelling momentum behind the movement, as they joined hands with thousands to demonstrate solidarity and compassion for individuals with ASD and their families.
The atmosphere at the event was electric, pulsating with enthusiasm, love, and a shared sense of purpose. From families affected by autism to advocates, educators, and volunteers, people from all walks of life converged to make their voices heard and celebrate the unique abilities and contributions of individuals on the autism spectrum.
For the Project Eight Initiative Team led by its Co- Founder Ms. Rossel “Shantal” Dimayuga together with its Program Lead Mr. Jasser “June”Cruz for Livelihood and Ms. Loreta “Lorence” Caburnay for the Fashion For a Cause advocacy, witnessing the magnitude of support and solidarity at the event was a transformative experience. Standing amidst thousands of passionate individuals, they witnessed the strength of community and the resilience of the human spirit. Every smile exchanged, every story shared, reaffirmed their commitment to championing the rights and dignity of those on the autism spectrum.
Moreover, the event served as a poignant reminder of the importance of empathy and inclusion. The impact of their involvement in Angels Walk for Autism extends far beyond the event itself. It has left an indelible mark on their lives, shaping their perspectives and inspiring them to advocate more passionately for autism awareness and acceptance. They carry with them a renewed sense of purpose—a commitment to continue fostering positive change and creating a more inclusive society for all.
