InLife celebrates Filipino legacy through timeless music and art

InLife recently treated its Amorsolo Club members to a special concert that paid homage to Filipino artistry and excellence. This year’s edition of Harmonies In Life, titled “Salinlahi: A Tribute to Timeless Filipino Legacy,” was a fitting event from the country’s first and largest Filipino life insurance company as it reflected the tradition of excellence it proudly brought to the stage.

Held at the Tanghalang Haribon at the Insular Life Corporate Centre in Alabang, the evening featured performances from The Manila Symphony Orchestra (MSO) under the baton of Maestro Jeffrey Solares and The Opera Belles, with the special participation of the Megastar and InLife Dreamweaver Sharon Cuneta. Maimai Cantillano, a Filipino spoken word artist and poet, known as the “Princess of Spoken Word,”provided the poetic narration to the event’s different acts.

InLife Executive Chairperson Nina D. Aguas opened the night with a moving speech. She acknowledged that while current political tensions and technological disruptions in the world bring uncertainties, the strength found in enduring partnerships can help us through these challenging times.

“Harmony does not mean the absence of change. It means finding strength in unity, in resilience, in shared purpose. We (at InLife) are not here just for today. We are here for you, your families, and your future for the long term. This is our unwavering commitment, A Lifetime for Good,” she said.

A moving tribute in five acts

Presented in five acts, Harmonies In Life: Salinlahi began with “Mga Awit ng Panliligaw” (Songs of Courtship). It featured The Opera Belles, the vocal trio known for blending classical technique with theatrical flair, singing to the MSO’s orchestral renditions of beloved OPM hits such as Tito Arevalo and National Artist Levi Celerio’s Ikaw ang Mahal Ko, the APO Hiking Society’s Ewan and BINI’s Pantropiko.

In Act II, the MSO took center stage with “Bayan at Alaala” (Homeland and Memories), performing orchestral arrangements of Pilipinas Kong Mahal, George Canseco’s Ngayon at Kailanman, and a Rivermaya medley to resounding applause. The act also featured a soulful violin performance by Maestro Alessio Benvenuti that left the audience in awe.

Act III was all about “Harana ng Puso” (Songs from the Heart) and showcased the Megastar in her element. The Filipino icon performed heartfelt versions of her hits Maging Sino Ka Man and Ikaw. When the audience called for an encore, she delivered an intimate a cappella of her iconic Bituing Walang Ningning.

Throughout the first three acts, digital projections of works by celebrated Filipino National Artists such as Fernando Amorsolo, Cesar Legaspi, Botong Francisco and Vicente Manansala, among others, were shown as the music played.  All featured pieces were from InLife Treasures, a remarkable collection of Filipino masterworks owned by InLife. This thoughtful pairing of visual art and music stirred emotion and evoked a deep sense of national pride

The fourth act, “Harana ng Dakila” (Tribute to Filipino Excellence), featured the MSO performing orchestral renditions of National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab’s Kay Ganda ng ating Musika and Eraserheads’ With a Smile.

The last act, “Harana ng Pamana” (Ode to our Legacy) saw the MSO once again joined by the Opera Belles to sing Umagang Kay GandaPiliin Mo Ang Pilipinas, and InLife’s new jingle, Love in Life.  As Piliin Mo ang Pilipinas played, the screen highlighted Filipino achievements on the world stage, further lighting up with vibrant imagery of iconic festivals and breathtaking destinations across the country showcasing the beauty of the homeland and the pride in being Filipino.

“Last year, our parent company’s revenues, net income and assets increased compared to 2023 numbers. This is attributed to higher insurance revenues and purchases of debt securities.
