Ascott Makati and Adarna House Unveil Adarna Books Suite in Partnership with Best Buddies Philippines
Each year, Ascott Makati transforms one of its suites to offer guests an extraordinary experience without leaving their room. These specially designed spaces highlight unique aspects of local culture and fine arts. This year, Ascott Makati turns its attention to a timeless passion that brings joy to all ages: books. But not just any books—Filipino children’s literature. And who better to partner with to bring this vision to life than the Philippine’s pioneering publisher of children’s books, Adarna House.

Ascott Makati and Adarna House teamed up to transform a two-bedroom suite into the Adarna Books Suite– a captivating book haven for children. With permission from various illustrators, the suite is visually adorned with artwork from some of Adarna House’s most beloved titles such as Si Laleng at ang LakbayPaaralan, Alamat ng Ampalaya, Ang Mabait na Kalabaw, Tara, Itok! and more. From table runners and water dispenser covers to placemats, pillowcases, and wall art, the room comes to life with enchanting images straight from the pages of these cherished books. One of the rooms is dedicated to Florante at Laura, featuring visuals from Adarna House’s annotated edition.
“We aim for every project to proudly reflect Filipino identity. The Adarna Suite celebrates our language, the writers who share our culture and values with children, and the illustrators who bring those stories to life. We hope both kids and adults enjoy their stay,” says Cluster General Manager, Cecille Teodoro.

But the standout in the Adarna Books Suite is the reading nook filled with over 20 curated books, some of which were written by National Artist for Literature Virgilio Almario, ranging from picture books, intermediate readers books, young adult novels and graphic novels. Titles such as Si Pilandok at ang mga Buwaya, Ang Ambisyosong Istetoskop, Operation Taka, Si Janus Silang at ang Tiyanak ng Tabon (10th Anniversary Edition), Ibong Adarna and Si Pagong at Si Matsing.
“We’re happy that Ascott Makati approached us for this collaboration. This partnership is extra special as Adarna House is also celebrating its 45th anniversary. Our mission to nurture the Filipino language and culture through children’s books remains strong and more relevant than ever. Through partnerships like this, we’re able to expand our reach and connect with new audiences. We truly hope that the guests of Ascott Makati, both local and foreign, will discover—or rediscover—the beauty of Filipino storytelling,” says Izo Lopez, Marketing Lead of Adarna House.
To unveil the Adarna Books Suite, Ascott Makati partnered with Best Buddies Philippines, led by Executive Director Michelle Aventajado. She shared during her speech, “For children — with or without disabilities — having a safe space to turn to, whether it’s within the pages of a book or through a partner that fosters inclusion, is incredibly important to us. Thank you to Ascott Makati for making this possible.” Best Buddies Philippines is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating an inclusive world for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) through friendship, employment, inclusive living, and leadership development.

Children from Best Buddies enjoyed an afternoon of storytelling featuring Noel! Noel! Leon! Leon! and Tara, Itok!. To add to the fun, kids also got to design their own tote bags and bookmarks. Each child went home with a book from Adarna House and an Ascott Cubby to remember the experience.
The Adarna Books Suite is now open for guests to stay in until December 30, 2025. An overnight stay is Php 18,000 nett and is inclusive of access to a 2-bedroom suite that features a reading nook filled with Adarna House books, breakfast buffet for four (4) persons and two (2) kids below 6 years old, use of swimming pool and fitness center, parking for 2 vehicles, complimentary wifi, and a special bundle of Adarna House books that they can take home.
